Waste Reduction
Projects and Action Groups

Extend the life of household items instead of throwing them away.

A space where local people can bring all kinds of household goods to be repaired, and perhaps learn how to do it themselves!

In 2009 MASG started investigating ways to tackle the enormous amounts of waste generated after events – seeing bins overflowing with disposable plates, bowls, cutlery, and cups. Out of this the Wash Against Waste Trailer was born. Our original trailer was created in Castlemaine in 2009. We redesigned and built a lighter weight trailer in 2020.

Our Party Hire has everything you need to make your party or event waste free. We can supply everything from tea spoons to trestle tables.

Kids’ Party Hire

Whether they invite a few close friends, or the whole class we will have you covered with a range of colourful pieces for kids of all ages.

What happens to your waste in Mount Alexander Shire? In 2021 we were donated money by a generous supporter who wanted to help our community get the facts about kerbside recycling. There has been a lot of change and confusion on this topic in recent years and as guidelines change from shire to shire, state to state, people understandably have been left wondering “am I doing this right?”  Recycling guide and weekly tips feature in The Midland Express newspaper.

This community-led project, the first of its kind in Victoria, will turn organic waste away from landfill, capturing harmful emissions and helping generate clean energy.
